A touchstone is an ideal—a benchmark against which future efforts are measured, a tangible and lasting standard of genuineness.
The Touchstone Endowment is a solid financial foundation that provides for the ongoing and future needs of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. An essential component of a strong academic institution is a strong endowment. The principal is invested and held in perpetuity, with the income used to fulfill the donor’s wishes. While some endowment funds are restricted for a particular use such as financial aid, continuing education for faculty, the arts, the science program, etc., funds generated from the General Endowment assist the overall budget. These funds provide support for all aspects of the school’s program such as faculty salaries and benefits, athletics, the arts, financial aid and academic programs.
ONGOING SUPPORT FOR ST. ANDREW’S
The Touchstone Endowment is an opportunity to fulfill your wishes in perpetuity. Once a gift to the endowment is made, it lasts forever. Your gift is never spent, but provides continual support for St. Andrew’s. You may designate your gift to benefit a specific area of your interest, or make unrestricted gifts, meaning the funds will be used where the need is greatest.
JOINING THE TOUCHSTONE CIRCLE
To recognize those who support the endowment, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School has established the Touchstone Circle. Any current or planned gift designated for endowment qualifies the donor for membership in the Touchstone Circle—there is no minimum dollar amount required. Gifts of all types and sizes are deeply appreciated. Members of the Touchstone Circle are honored each year with a special event, listed in school publications and have the personal satisfaction of knowing they are helping build a lasting legacy for St. Andrew’s.
As of June 2008, St. Andrew’s School endowment stood at $5.9 million in cash and $2.6 million in planned gifts. The Board of Trustees is committed to continued growth of the endowment.
