Art
Three-year-olds, four-year-olds, and kindergarteners participate in daily art activities that stimulate their imagination, foster fine motor development, and allow them to explore a variety of textures and mediums. Children gather in the preschool art rooms to explore the use of various materials within a framework of the elements of design, including line, shape, color, value, form, textures, and space. Children have the opportunity to draw, paint, and work with clay on a regular basis. The program also includes specific art projects that correlate with and reinforce classroom activities in a creative way. Click to see more.

Music
The preschool and Kindergarten music program includes singing, playing, moving, listening, and creating, all of which encourages students to recognize and respond to their own inherent musical natures. Students’ profound enthusiasm for songs, dances, and musical stories is enhanced by hands-on involvement that builds confidence in their own ability to make music. Opportunities for group and individual student performances are available throughout the school year. Click to see more.

Science
Students participate in science lessons that foster skills in deduction and reasoning. The science curriculum includes weekly visits to the Lower School Science Lab, as well as classroom cooking activities and a science workstation in the classroom. Click to see more.

Spanish
The Spanish program for pre-K and Kindergarten is lively – and loud. In their lab environment, students begin building a solid foundation in Spanish, learning the language the same way in which they learned their first language – by developing listening and speaking skills. The Spanish curriculum is often integrated with subjects and themes taught in the classroom. Click to see more.

Library Activities
PreK3, PreK4, and Kindergarten children come for storytime each week to enjoy new books and old favorites. They check out books through the Books ‘n Bags program, bringing home a red tote bag of three books each week to share with their families. Click to see more.

Chapel Class
Pre-schoolers and kindergarteners attend weekly services led by the school chaplain in the Lower School chapel. Little Chapel provides the opportunity and environment to explore the Episcopal liturgy, which is enriched with prayer, music, worship, and a spirit of celebration. Through Little Chapel, our youngest students experience resounding joy and profound peace.

Fitness
Pre-k and Kindergarten students participate in a fitness program called Stretch n Grow, which promotes wellness and exercise specifically for young children. The curriculum also incorporates topics including nutrition, muscle groups, balance, agility, coordination, and self-esteem.

Technology
The Kindergarten students are introduced to the Tech Lounge and its many activities early in the year. They work with our SMART table, digital cameras, laptop computers, and more to develop those introductory skills necessary to use technology equipment safely and successfully. Click to see more.
