St. Andrew’s Students Again Named Mississippi’s AP State Scholars
Rishi Gupta and Anna Hopper are the 2007 Honorees

Of the 30 students recognized as Mississippi AP State Scholars since the distinction began to be recognized in 1993, 28 have been St. Andrew’s students, including every State Scholar for the last 11 years. The 2007 winners are Rishi Gupta, a student at the University of California at Berkeley, and Anna Hopper, a student at Harvard University. 15 years ago the College Board began distinguishing AP State Scholars, the one male and one female high school student in each state and the District of Columbia with grades of 3 or higher (with 5 being the highest) on the greatest number of exams, and also the highest average grade (at least 3.5) on all AP Exams taken.

62 students, who represent 48.4% of all the St. Andrew's students who took an AP Examination last year, have been named 2007 Advanced Placement Scholars by the College Board due to their exceptional performance on AP Exams. Globally, about 14% of students who take an AP Exam qualify to be recognized as an AP Scholar.

“St. Andrew’s remarkable record in Advanced Placement testing reflects not only the quality of the St. Andrew’s student, but also the quality of the St. Andrew’s teacher,” says Head of School Steve Blanchard. “The dedication St. Andrew’s students and teachers have for one another is just one of the things that make this school so outstanding.”

7 students in the Class of 2007, including Ms. Hopper and Mr. Gupta, qualified to be recognized as National AP Scholars by earning an average grade of 4 or higher on at least 8 AP Exams. 33 additional students qualified as Scholars with Distinction; 9 more students qualified as Scholars with Honor; and 18 more students qualified as AP Scholars.

All of our AP Scholars deserve congratulations for their incredible academic achievement.
