SNAG (Starting New at Golf) — K through 4th grade

Skyhawks Golf focuses on building the confidence of young athletes by teaching proper technique to refine essential skills of the game. Golf is a challenging and lifelong sport, so young athletes need proper focus on the fundamentals of form, swinging, putting, and body positioning. To assist in this training, Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system to its curriculum. SNAG utilizes a set of equipment designed for beginning golfers, including oversized plastic club heads and “mini tennis balls” to help build confidence and to have fun. Developed by PGA professionals, SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level player; SNAG simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy and effective transition onto the golf course. No need to bring your own clubs — all equipment is provided. We keep the instructor-to-camper ratio low, resulting in limited availability.

They will be videoing their works as it happens and share with the parents.

Session 2 (July 10-14): WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE - This is a complete STEM class. The students will design an irrigation system for their own growing garden. They will design a catch basin for natural accumulation of water, a delivery system for that water, a recycling or cleaning system for the run-off and a return system to resupply the catch basin with the cleaned water. They will draw up their designs, build the system, evaluate it and modify it as needed. The students will video their process to share with each other and their parents.

Session 3 (July 24-28): ENERGY IN MOTION! - Students will learn about energy systems - Kinetic, Potential and Inertia. They will make batteries using lemons, pickles and potatoes and things that move with them. We will also be exploring solar energy using solar beads, solar cars, photographic paper and making solar ovens to cook pizza. The students will develop roller coasters using simple gravity and magnets. They will be making LED throwies using LED lights, batteries and magnets. The students will be designing, their cars, solar ovens and roller coaster and graphing their outcomes. The students will video their activities as well as explaining them. These videos will be shared with each and parents.
