In Kathy Vial's ever-popular After School Science Lab series, students will do fun weekly experiments and activities exploring force and movement. They will explore energy using batteries, solar cells, project motors, LED lights and magnets. They will create reactions and design structures to support and move various loads.
We will also be do a bit of cooking (solar ovens) and some fractal art.

In Mr. McKey’s Around the World class, students will learn about culture, music, personal experiences, and greetings from countries around the world. Students will have the opportunity to explore countries via Google Earth, watch and listen to natives talk about their country, and create their own passports to show their journey.

This book club is going to be run by Ms. Clark - the Lower School Librarian! We will be having discussions about the book we are reading, book-related conversations, working on reading comprehension skills, story-telling activities, and author/illustrator studies. My overall goal is to get students excited about reading and learning more about books in general! This will be a one-hour class in the library. We will be reading 4 different chapter books over the course period that will be included in the price of the class. Each student will have their own personal copy of the books. Students will be responsible for their copy (if the book is lost student must purchase a new copy). We will be doing a packet alongside these studies and books!

This course is designed for students who have had no/minimal prior exposure to learning Chinese.
It will introduce students to the fundamental and pictograph of Chinese characters. The teacher will foster an immerse environment for students to develop listening and speaking skills. Students will enjoy friendship gained through play.

This course is for students with some prior Mandarin exposure.
This course will focus on topics students have learned previously and foster imagination and creativity. This course will also continue to reinforce the pronunciation accuracy through teaching of Chinese phonetics and enhance children’s abilities to comprehend pictures and stimulate their thinking process abilities. Students will learn to use simple sentences to describe a picture.
