  • After School Art: Pre-K3 – Kindergarten, 3:15 - 4:00 p.m. on Mondays

    Instructor: Nicole Robinson
    Grades: Pre-K3 through Kindergarten

    Tuition: $350 for ASC students, $400 for non-ASC students

    Let's create using wood, fabric, collage, yarn, gems, pastels, paints, etc...all while learning art history and different styles of making beauty. Come experience this textural journey with me! *New lessons and studies each semester.*

  • Art Technique and Media, 5th – 8th Grades, 3:15 – 4:15 p.m. on Tuesdays

    Enjoy the art-making process by drawing, painting, collage, & more! This class is open to all students that love art and want some more hands-on time to develop their skills and experiment with different techniques & materials.

    New lessons/projects each semester!

    Instructor Bio:
    Cyndi Irons is the Middle School Art Teacher at St. Andrew's. She has taught art to artists of all ages from kindergarten through adults, both in the classroom and in the community. She has worked in education for many years as a teacher and a counselor. As an artist drawing, painting, and mixed media is her passion.
    Cyndi graduated from MSU and held National Board Certification in Middle School Art.

    *NEW* In addition to this Thursday class, 3rd and 4th graders are now encouraged to join one of the older classes for advanced learning with upper grades. Those options are Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 4:10 - 5:30pm. They may also join the mixed-grade Friday class from 2:45 - 3:45pm.

  • St. Andrew's Cathedral Children's Choir: 1st – 4th Grades, 3:30 – 4:15 p.m. on Tuesdays

    Location: Lower School, Jean Jones Chapel
    Dismissal: via Front Office
     
    St. Andrew's Cathedral Children's Choir will meet weekly in the Lower School Chapel for rehearsal. This ensemble is open to all students of all faith traditions, not just Episcopalians or members of St. Andrew's Cathedral. These choristers will learn music selected from the breadth and depth of the Anglican music-making tradition and will sing for selected Big Chapel services, as well as selected Sunday services at the Cathedral.

    Instructor Bio:
    Jessica Nelson is a native Mississippian with degrees in music and liturgy from Millsaps College and Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, as well as the Colleague Certificate from the American Guild of Organists. She has been organist/choirmaster of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral since 2017 and directed the Mississippi Conference on Church Music and Liturgy from 2014-2022. In 2015, she was appointed by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry to a 6 year term on the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music of the Episcopal Church and currently serves on the board of the Association of Anglican Musicians, the professional organization for musicians serving Episcopal churches in the United States. She is the editor of Church Publishing, Inc.’s Ponder Anew: Conversations in 20th Century Church Music, (2022) a collection of essays, interviews, and sermons focused on the changing landscape of the Church and its music.
    Recent commissions include “Grounded in Love,” a setting of a text of St. Julian of Norwich commissioned by Christ Church Cathedral, New Orleans for the upcoming consecration of the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana, as well as works for choir + organ for All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Tupelo and the Association of Anglican Musicians. Her other choral works are available from Paraclete Press and St. James Music Press.
  • Strings — Early Childhood: Pre-K4 and Kindergarten, 2:45 – 3:45 p.m. on Mondays OR Fridays

    Tuition: $400 for ASC kids, $450 for non-ASC kids

    Dismissal: via Kennedy Hall 

    St. Andrew’s Lower School music teacher, Sarah Walker, created the Violin Karate method to motivate kids to learn the basic skills needed to play the violin. After each skill is mastered, each child will earn a colored belt (tassel) to hang from the end of the violin scroll indicating that he/she has mastered a new skill. This highly motivating method is fun, fast and easy! All music and supplies are provided and included in the tuition. Violins will be needed and can be rented from Sarah Walker.     Location: North Campus, CPA

    Tech Theatre for Middle School gives an introduction to all the areas of technical theatre. In this project based class, students will learn about tool safety, scenic design, lighting design, costume design, and sound design for theatre. Their projects will contribute to the technical designs for both the middle school production of "Frozen" the musical and the upper school musical, "The Wizard of Oz."

    Instructor Bio:
    David Orace Kelly is the Director of the Center for Performing Arts at St. Andrew's. He has worked in technical theatre and performing arts for the last two decades. Prior to teaching at St. Andrew's he taught theatre internationally in Bahrain and Morocco at both the middle and upper school levels; he also ran an award winning middle school theatre program in Seattle for a decade.
