  • Saints 3D Workshop: 5th - 8th grades, 3:30 - 4:30pm on Wednesdays OR Fridays

    Instructor: Chris Hartfield
    Grades: 5th - 8th

    Tuition: $550
    Location: North Campus, Library

    Course Description: Explore the world of 3D design and printing. Students will learn to build, maintain, and use 3D printers. They will also learn to use Tinkercad to create 3D models for printing. After the 15 week course they will get to keep the 3D printer they build and use.

    Instructor Bio: Chris Hartfield has been a St. Andrews IT Specialist for over 13 years. He strives to keep all things tech-related repaired and upgraded for students and teachers on both campuses.
  • The Art of Storytelling: Pre-K4 - 4th grades, 3:15 - 4:15 p.m. on Mondays

    Course Description:
    Over the semester we will delve into several classic tales. After reading these stories we will brainstorm about the characters, plot and setting.  The class will decide as a group what types of materials are needed to create props to assist with our story telling. Puppets will be made, scenery props will be painted and characters will be created! Each child will make a story bag so they can share their story telling skills with others.The students will retell in front of their peers practicing valuable pubic speaking skills. We will learn, act, speak in silly voices and have an overall wonderful time! 

    Instructor Bio:
    My name is Taylor Davis, and I have been an ECC teacher at St. Andrew's School for 15 years. I have always loved literature and drama. Reading books and story telling are the heart of creating connections in a young child's life. Literature helps develop colorful language and gives children a glimpse into different perspectives, opening a child's mind. I love story telling and I look forward to sharing this time honored tradition.
  • Bricks for Kidz - Jr. Engineering: Pre-K4 – K, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays

    Course Description:
    Join the engineering fun at St. Andrews every Wednesday! Our Bricks 4 Kidz Lego model plans, designed by engineers and architects, teach children to learn with LEGO® Bricks. We will build vehicles, contraptions, inventions, animals and much more. Our projects motivate children by reinforcing S.T.E.M. principles while building self-confidence, improving fine motor skills, and teaching math skills. We Learn, We Build, We Play with LEGO bricks! Different ALL new projects EVERY semester!

    Course Description:
    Join Bricks 4 Kidz for a Lego® Engineering experience every Wednesday! Our Lego® models are fully MOTORIZED. ALL new projects EVERY semester! We will begin building vehicles, contraptions, inventions, animals and much more using tech Lego bricks with motors and battery packs. Your child will be introduced to programming his/her creations using Apple IPads and bluetooth technology for a wireless ride by the end of the semester! Come join the educational fun....We Learn, We Build, We Play with LEGO bricks! Our projects, designed by engineers and architects, motivate children by reinforcing S.T.E.M. principles while enhancing self-esteem, improving fine motor skills, and teaching important math skills.
  • Cooking with Friends: Pre-K3 – K, 3:15 - 4:15 p.m. on Wednesdays OR Thursdays

    Tuition: $400 for ASC students, $450 for non-ASC students

    Course Description:
    In this one hour weekly class we will work together to prepare a meal, learn to set a table, and prepare a floral arrangement for a child and adult friendly meal.
    We will focus on food’s versatility. We will use few and familiar ingredients so that the children will become comfortable with tools and methods. We will begin with traditional breakfast foods and end the course with a family friendly meal prepared by your child. (with instructions)

    Instructor Bio:
    My name is Andrea Stallings, and I have been an instructional assistant for 10 years. I am an avid home chef and lover of eating at new restaurants and trying new foods. I have lived in Jackson for 30 years. I have taught art in the summers at St. Andrew's.
  • Flavors of México: 5th - 8th grades, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. on Mondays

    Course Description:
    Interested in learning to cook authentic Mexican dishes?
    If Mexican food is your favorite cuisine and you want to try your hand at making dishes for yourself or please your family and friends, you can learn how to cook Mexican from this enrichment.
    You will learn to cook authentic Mexican dishes, in a fully hands-on cooking class, with easy recipes to follow that you can replicate back home.
    Mrs. Ambriz will walk you through the authentic ways of cooking and serving Mexican dishes. You will learn about the ingredients used along with its usage and how you can mix and match them to prepare such delights.
    Classes are fun, we will cook a variety of different dishes in a relaxed atmosphere and everyone has a chance to participate. Classes are like cooking in a friend’s kitchen, not like taking a formal lecture course. But, you will learn skills that will last a lifetime and of course you will have lots of fun!

    Instructor Bio:
    Liza Ambriz is currently St. Andrew's 5th grade Spanish teacher. She has previously been a substitute teacher for PK3-12th grade for several years. She served as a permanent substitute and was also the substitute coordinator.
    Mrs. Ambriz has experience with students of all ages, and has gotten great feedback from students, parents and teachers alike for her patience and love for kids.
    Mrs. Ambriz's parents are from México, she grew up tasting Mexican cuisine. She wants to share these recipes with students, so that they can also enjoy the Flavors of México.
  • Fun with Food - No-bake Cooking: 1st - 4th grades, 3:45 - 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays

    Course Description:
    In Fun with Food, we are teaching kids about the importance of healthy snacks while still making them fun.
    No-bake recipes are a great way to introduce your child to cooking. And if your children already enjoy cooking they are going to love trying these delicious recipes. 
    These no-oven recipes are a great way to get kids started in the kitchen. Not only will it be an educational effort, it will be fun as well.
    One thing we know is that kids love fun foods!
    If you have a picky eater, sometimes the way to their stomach is by cute kid-approved foods. Or, perhaps you are trying to get additional veggies into your child, It may be sneaky but it is totally doable in a cute snack or treat! 
    This is one instance when it’s totally acceptable to have Fun with Food.
    Grab your aprons and let’s get cooking!

    Instructor Bio:

  • Glow Girls Day Spa: 1st – 4th Grades, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. on Fridays

    Glow Girls Spa Day is designed to focus on inner beauty inspiring self-love and confidence, enhancing girls' mind, body and soul. Break through the stress, boredom and technology fatigue with self-care rituals designed just for girls such as spa activities, yoga, pilates, meditation, art activities, girl chat, smoothie making, and more! Each week we will target one specific topic including friendship building, empathy and compassion, kindness matters, and inclusivity. Beautifying our inner self while pampering our outer self is what makes us glow!

    Instructor Bio:
    Patty Wolf is currently an Instructional Assistant in Kindergarten. She has been employed as a faculty member at St. Andrew's since 2009. Prior to that Ms. Wolf was a fitness coach and instructor at the YMCA as well as on a private basis. She is certified in mindfulness meditation for children and has worked with local community groups and schools sharing her practice for over 10 years. She enjoys crafting, cooking and art. Her favorite pastime is spending time with her 4-yr-old granddaughter.
  • Koding Kids: 1st -4th grades, 2:45 - 3:45 p.m. on Mondays

    Course Description:
    Koding Kids will introduce students to the world of coding. Through a series of structured lessons, students will use critical thinking skills as they develop the foundational skills and understanding for sequence, conditions, loops, functions, variables, and debugging. Students will gain the knowledge and understanding of code, the language computers use, as they complete activities, practice with game like challenges, create code for puzzles and games, as well as collaborate with peers as the class moves through the Kodable curriculum.

    Rachel Scott is St. Andrew's Lower School Technology Coordinator and Integration Specialist. She strives to make learning fun and relevant for students by connecting new tools with real world problems.
  • FIRST LEGO League Robotics: 1st - 4th grades, 2:45 - 3:45 p.m. on Thursdays

    Course Description:
    Explore the world of robotics through the FIRST LEGO League Explore Robotics program. Students will focus on the fundamentals of engineering as they explore real-world problems, learn to design, code, and create unique solutions.

  • Manners Matter: PreK3 – 4th Grades, 3:15 – 4:00 p.m. on Thursdays

    Instructor: Carolyn Cloud
    Grades: Pre-K3 – 4th

    Day and Time: Thursdays from 3:15 – 4:00 p.m.
    Please note that class ends with a Graduation Dinner on the last Thursday of class (date TBA) at 5 p.m. at Amerigo in Ridgeland.
    Tuition: $300 for ASC kids, $350 for non-ASC kids
    Location: Lower School Main Building

    This class is designed to encourage and emphasize good manners in today's busy society. We have new material for any students who have attended previous camps and classes. Some topics to be discussed will be: respect, responsibility, posture, personal hygiene, giving and receiving compliments, manners for all social occasions, table manners, meeting and greeting, healthy eating choices, handling difficult situations, and much more!
  • Mindful Crafts: Pre-K3 - K, 3:15 - 4:00 p.m. on Fridays

    Instructor: Tia Coleman
    Grades: Pre-K3 - K

    Day and Time: Fridays from 3:15 – 4:00 p.m.
    Tuition: $375 for ASC students, $425 for non-ASC students
    Location: Kennedy Hall

    Course Description:
    Mindful crafts is a class that mixes the social emotional skills with arts and crafts. Each week, we will discuss an emotion and/or skill and then create a craft that corresponds with the emotion or skill that we have discussed (example: we talk about stress, we then make stress balls). Each class will begin with deep breathing and then a quick and calm recap of each student’s week. We then will get into the discussion and lastly complete the craft. 
    During the last class, we will create a “memory book.” This book will  highlight what we have learned during our time together as well as have instructions on how to recreate all the crafts we have created just in case the student wants to try the project again in the future. The cost of this class will be $375. This will cover the cost of all materials needed for the art projects completed in class as well as additional learning material (books and/or learning cards).

    Instructor Bio:
    Hello everyone! My name is Tia Coleman and this is my second year being a part of the St. Andrew's community. Although I am still fairly new to St. Andrew's, I am no stranger to molding young minds. I have a combined total of 7 years working with children from all walks of life. In addition to my many years in child care, I also have an Associates and Bachelors degree in Psychology and I am currently pursing a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Working with children is truly a passion of mine! It honestly brightens my day to see smiles on little faces and to learn about what makes these little people unique. I will always strive to mold young minds.
  • Sew Fun Studios: 2nd - 4th grades, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Tuesdays

    Tuition: $375 for ASC students, $475 for non-ASC students

    Course Description:
    Join the SEW FUN studios team at St. Andrew's Spring 2023! Learn sewing basics while your child creates a variety of projects to take home throughout the semester. Your child will choose from our line of trendy fabrics to make creations that are just their style! Perfect for your little fashionista or DIY child. Sewing enforces Science Technology Engineering Art and Math principles. Your child will be learning while having SEW much fun! Tuition includes ALL fabric, notions, supplies and the use of sewing machines! Limited  students per semester. Projects are different EVERY semester. Children can take classes every semester and learn new skills while making new and different projects!
  • Tinker Lab: Kindergarten, 3:15 – 4:15 p.m. on Mondays

    Tinker Lab: A hands on experience for young inventors. Using the concepts of simple machines; children will create and build new inventions. We will be using real tools in their creations! Imagination and perseverance are built and supported through teamwork and guided documentation.

    Instructor Bio:
    My name is Kim Sewell. I have taught Kindergarten and Pre-K4 for 6 years at St. Andrew's. For the past four years, I have offered many popular Maker classes during the school year and summers, including Slimes, Doughs and Other Crazy Concoctions, Emerging Engineers, Tinkering for Tots, and Rube Goldberg Machines.
