Explorer Camp

*Following the recommendations of the State Department of Health and the CDC, we will limit the number of campers in each classroom. We will restrict group gatherings in water play areas and on playgrounds and practice fields to small groups, and social distancing of six feet in these areas will be enforced as much as possible.

Join us for Explorer Camp at the Saints Summer Experience—exclusively for 5th - 8th grades! Camp director Toby Lowe is a teacher in the middle school and has once again whipped up a smart, fun, and engaging array of camps. 

This summer, Explorer Camp meets in the Discovery Center on the South Campus in Jackson, runs 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and costs $250.00 per week. Campers will start out in the South Campus Discovery Center each day, with relaxing free choice time and learning about and engaging with the week's theme. At noon, they'll eat lunch and then continue with collaborative projects and fun indoor and outdoor play for the rest of the afternoon.

After Camp Care runs until 5:45 p.m. on the South Campus and can be added for an additional $60.00 per week. We also have an Early Bird drop off option—you can drop off as early as 7:45 a.m. for no additional charge.

    Due to COVID-19 concerns, all week 1 sessions have been cancelled. Day camps will open on June 15, and other camp sessions will resume in July.

  • Week 3: Shark Tank!

    Back by popular demand - our Week 3 theme is Shark Tank!
    Campers will use this week to hone their entrepreneurial skills, either by finding a need they find to be underserved or figuring out a way to disrupt an already existing service. They will work to refine their pitch and product before presenting to a panel of SA sharks.

    Our Week 4 theme is Radio Production.
    Do you have what it takes to make the next hit podcast? We will spend this week brainstorming, writing, recording, editing, and eventually sharing out different types of podcasts. In the past, campers have made radio dramas, sketch shows and informative talk shows.

    Our Week 5 theme is Escape Room!
    NO CAMP FRIDAY, JULY 3. See below for pricing. We’re going for the threepeat! We will visit a Jackson area escape room to try out the experience on our own before spending the rest of the week designing and testing our own rooms, which will be calibrated to challenge both adults and campers from the lower school. Don’t miss out on this fabulous week.

  • Week 6: Explorer Olympics

    Our Week 6 theme is Explorer Olympics.
    Taking inspiration from the now-postponed Tokyo Summer games, we will dive into the history and pageantry of the Olympics. Students will get to experience some discontinued Olympic events (Tug of War, anyone?) design national outfits for the parade of nations, and come up with events and sports they’d like to see added to the games. We will culminate the experience with our own mock games.

  • Week 7: Bridge Building Challenge

    Our Week 7 theme is a Bridge Building Challenge!

    Campers will form into competing engineering firms for this week’s challenge. They will balance the cost of materials, time, and size constraints before stress testing their bridges at the end of the week. Hard hats not required!

    Campers will use iPads to make their directorial dreams come true! We will experiment with making live action and stop motion projects, practice script writing and try our hands at filming commercials.

  • Week 9: Let's Game it Out!

    Our Week 9 theme is Let's Game it Out!
    We will spend this week looking at the design behind some popular card and board games, before trying our hands at creating our own! Students will choose whether they want to make a board game or card game, pen rules, and run play tests.
