The new Episcopal chapel will be built in memory of The Rt. Rev. Duncan M. Gray, Jr., but it is also a lovely way to make a gift in honor or memory of a loved one.
With his death in the summer of 2016, the Episcopal Church lost one of its most influential and remarkable leaders – The Rt. Rev. Duncan M. Gray, Jr. A man of extraordinary integrity and one who lived his life based on the gospel, Bishop Gray exhibited strength in the face of adversity. He was courageous in believing all people should be treated with respect, compassion, and love.
Bishop Gray believed in the important work being done at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School to educate our future leaders in a spiritually-grounded, diverse community. He served as a Regent of the Corporation, was the parent of a graduate, and in the months prior to his death, he graciously agreed to serve as the Honorary Chair for a $2.5 million campaign to build an Episcopal chapel at St. Andrew's.
With the blessing of Bishop Gray's family and support of The Rt. Rev. Brian R. Seage, it is right and fitting to build this new chapel in memory of the Rt. Rev. Duncan M. Gray, Jr., a beacon of light and hope in Mississippi and beyond. His life and this chapel will forever inspire St. Andrew’s students to go forth and shine their lights in the world.
