The upper school had their inaugural Service Day on November 17, traveling to sites throughout our metro area to work in our community. Students were given a variety of options and were asked to pick a site that corresponded with their interest. Sites included Brinkley Middle School, McWillie Elementary School, the Mustard Seed, Joni’s Friends, Thalia Mara Hall, Stewpot, the Operation Shoestring Conversation about Community, Revitalize Mississippi, Webster Animal Shelter, the Animal Rescue Fund, and the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. We are thankful to our community partners for their willingness to host our volunteers, and we are especially thankful to our two speakers, Dr. Robby Luckett and Mrs. Lucy Kay Jones ‘10.  Dr. Luckett, currently a JPS School Board member, spoke to our students visiting schools. Mrs. Jones, a behavioral therapist, spoke to our students working with organizations that serve individuals with disabilities. It was a beautiful day to learn more about the needs in our community and how we can address those needs.
