Dear College Representative:

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Ridgeland, Mississippi is pleased to announce our 2016 College Fair, scheduled for Tuesday, September 13th, 2016. We have scheduled our fair during the week following the NACAC Fair in Birmingham, Alabama, and in coordination with other Mississippi fairs that you may wish to attend. Last year, more than 65 colleges and universities from around the country attended our Fair. As always, our Fair includes students from other Mississippi schools, and we issue special invitations to schools in nearby communities.

The Schedule:

7:30-8:30 a.m.: College Fair Breakfast

Seniors invite representatives from their top choice colleges to a pre-fair breakfast for seniors, their parents, and selected representatives at 7:30 a.m. on September 13th. We will notify you in early September if students have requested to have breakfast with a representative from your college.

8:30-9:00 a.m.: Seminar I

9:00-9:30 a.m.: Seminar II

Unless you are presenting a Seminar (see below) and/or attending the breakfast, you do not need to arrive until 9:00-9:15 to arrange your table.

9:30-11:00 a.m.: General Browsing

Time to visit with students as they move amongst displays in the traditional college fair style.

11:05-11:30 a.m.: College Presentation I

11:35-12:00 p.m.: College Presentation II

Much like a regular high school visit, these two sessions provide an opportunity for you to present a more in-depth talk to a group of students who are interested in your school.

11:35-until: Luncheon

Please stay for lunch! It’s not formally structured; you will be able to leave whenever. If pressed for time, you may even pick up a “to-go box.”

By popular demand, we are repeating the morning seminar feature. Student participants find these college-oriented seminars extremely beneficial, and college representatives have commented that they provide an ideal opportunity to share important information with students in a “nonpartisan” setting. If you are interested in leading one of the seminars, please let us know. Some of last year’s seminar topics included:

“Choosing the Right College”

“Getting Their Attention: College Applications That Work”

“Writing Effective College Application Essays”

“The Best of Both Worlds: the Public University Honors College Experience”

“College 101: Making a Successful Transition from High School to College”

“STEM in College and as a Career”

“The Art of Winning Scholarships”

We will conclude with a luncheon for you and our faculty. The luncheon will provide an informal opportunity for you to get to know our faculty members who write letters on our students’ behalf, and to relax with your colleagues from other colleges. If you are pressed for time (and we fully understand if you are!), you certainly may pick up a lunch and hit the road. Vegetarian options will be available.

Please register using the form below, preferably by August 1st (but we will gladly accept later registrations). If you have any difficulty with online registration, or have other Fair-related questions, please contact Scott Johnson at johnsons@gosaints.org. Please do not hesitate to contact either of us if there is anything else we can do to make your visit a more productive one.

This year’s College Fair promises to be especially exciting, and we hope you will be able to include St. Andrew’s and the Jackson metropolitan area in your busy fall travel plans. We hope to see you on September 13th! Best wishes for a successful recruiting season.

Sincerely,

Colin Dunnigan
