Faculty Published in "Ubiquity" Manuscript

Beginning in 2020, Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning Julie Rust co-wrote a manuscript with friend and professor at Appalachian State Beth A. Buchholz titled Sustaining Hope in Lockdown: Reinventing Kindergarten Classroom Rituals Through Teacher-Created Digital Stories. Over the summer, the manuscript was published by Ubiquity: The Journal of Literature, Literacy, and the Arts. The manuscript highlights the ways that Kindergarten teachers Saana Watson and Robyn Touchstone maintained classroom rituals and connected with and celebrated students during quarantine. "It has been a LONG time in the making — starting with me observing their amazing morning meeting videos for my daughter's kindergarten class in March 2020," commented Rust. "It couldn't have been written without lots of contributions from Saana and Robyn, who were generous in their time and interviews and honest sharing of their work together."
