Global Leaders
St. Andrew’s is the first high school invited to partner with Millsaps College for an experiential learning experience in the Yucatán.
The Global Leaders Program includes coursework, research, and international experiences that prepare students to become thoughtful leaders in an interconnected world.
The Experience
The Global Leadership Program is a transformative experience anchored by four pillars—Cultural and Historical Literacy, Social Justice, Stewardship and Conservation, and Global Issues. The program challenges students to engage deeply with the world around them.
Beginning in the fall of their 10th-grade year, a select cohort of students embarks on a journey that includes coursework, research, and international experiences. A key highlight is a cohort trip to Mérida, Mexico and the Yucatan, where students immerse themselves in the region’s rich culture and language, explore Maya ruins, and collaborate with a nonprofit biocultural reserve. This partnership with Millsaps College offers students a unique opportunity to participate in archaeology and conservation work, guided by the expertise of faculty and state-of-the-art facilities in Mexico. In their junior or senior year, students pursue independent studies aligned with one of the program’s focus areas and their chosen international experience, culminating in an action research project.
By combining academic rigor, immersive global experiences, and a commitment to service, the Global Leadership Program empowers students to become impactful leaders equipped to address global challenges and drive meaningful change.
