We offer two individual Gear Up Camps especially for rising sixth grade students each summer:
Sixth Grade Gear Up for Language Arts, taught by Hannah King:
During the week, rising sixth graders will review essential grammar and writing skills. Sixth graders will practice writing expository pieces, a creative piece, and a variety of poems. The parts of speech, capitalization and punctuation, sentence fragments, run–on sentences, contractions, possessives, subject/verb agreement and complements will also be covered.
Sixth Grade Gear Up for Math, taught by Val Dembny:
Rising sixth graders will review key concepts of fractions, decimals, percent, geometry and algebraic expressions through hands-on activities, math games and collaborative problem solving. Bring a water bottle and snack. Notebooks and pencils will be provided!
Campers should wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and bring a snack for each camp and a labeled water bottle. All classroom materials will be provided. Please note that there are no other regular day camps or after care scheduled for this week on either campus.
