  • American Idol, Vocal Coaching, 3rd-4th, 2:45-3:45 on Fridays

    SPRING 2026: American Idol, Vocal Coaching: Want to sing like a pro! Let’s go! 
    Instructor: Sarah Walker
    Grades: 3rd & 4th
    Day and Time: Friday, 2:45- 3:45 pm

    Location:  Lower School

    Let's reach your full potential as a vocalist! Learn to express yourself to your full singing potential in this exciting approach to singing! I will get you ready to take the stage and shine like a star! We will warm-up with vocalizations, learn the correct technique to sing for life and develop the courage to take the stage anytime/anywhere! This class will be energetic, fun and full of exciting opportunities for performing! 

    Instructor's Bio:
    Sarah Walker has been a Performing Arts Teacher here at St. Andrew's for 11 years and serves as the coordinator for the department. She has years of international, public and private school teaching experience, giving her a broad world-wide view of music pedagogy. She is the Master Teacher and creator of Sarah Walker Studios, Violin Karate, Ukulele Karate  and The Piano Lab.  Sarah is passionate about finding creative and Innovative ways to teach music to kids, always seeking to make learning FUN! 
     
  • Guitar Class Level 1, 3rd-4th, 4:00-5:00 on Tuesdays

    SPRING 2026: Guitar Class Level 1
    Instructor: Sarah Walker & Jimmy Walker
    Grades: 3rd-4th
    Day and Time: Tuesday, 4:00-5:00 pm
    Tuition: $475 for ASC students, $525 for non-ASC students
    Location:  Lower School Performing Arts Room

    Guitar Class is a group class offering instruction in 2 different levels. Level 1 will teach the basics and Level 2 will teach beyond the basics. All students in these 2 classes will learn the fundamentals of how to play the guitar, using various styles and varied song genres.  You may rent a full quality student guitar outfit directly from Sarah Walker at https://sarahwalkerstudios.com/shop

    Instructor's Bio:
    Professor of Guitar at Millsaps & MS College, Jimmy Turner, will be teaching this class alongside the direction of Mrs. Sarah Walker.

  • Kinder Piano Lab, K, 2:30-3:15 on Mondays

    SPRING 2026: Kinder Piano Lab
    Instructor: Sarah Walker & Tyler Dennis
    Grades: Kindergarten
    Day and Time: Monday, 2:30-3:15 pm
    Tuition: $475
    Location:  ECC Performing Arts Room

    Piano Lab is a unique curriculum developed by Sarah Walker which teaches piano skills in a fun and innovative atmosphere! Each student will be given a customized method binder and assigned to their own digital piano with headphones where they will be given both group and individualized instruction based on each student's needs. It is literally the BEST of both worlds! Class will rotate into three sections. 
    1. Technique/Skills.     2. Theory/Sight-Reading.      3. Practice

    Sarah Walker has been a Performing Arts Teacher here at St. Andrew's for 11 years and serves as the coordinator for the department. She has years of international, public and private school teaching experience, giving her a broad world-wide view of music pedagogy. She is the Master Teacher and creator of Sarah Walker Studios, Violin Karate, Ukulele Karate  and The Piano Lab.  Sarah is passionate about finding creative and Innovative ways to teach music to kids, always seeking to make learning FUN! 
     
    Ty Dennis is the current ECC Performing Arts Teacher and assists Sarah Walker in all the functions of the ECC & Lower School Performing Arts Programs. She has now served St. Andrew's for 4 years and holds a Master's Degree and several Certifications in Music.
  • Kinder Violin Karate, PreK-4-K, 2:30-3:30 on Fridays

    Location:  ECC Performing Arts Classroom

    Violin Karate is a fun and motivational method created to teach kids in a group setting, helping them learn the basic skills needed to play the violin! It’s that simple! After each skill is mastered, the student earns a colored belt (tassel) to hang from the end of the violin scroll indicating that he/she has mastered a new skill. The Kinder class will focus on building the foundation of violin playing with games, exercises and activities to strengthen motor development and cognitive connections required to become a violinist. 
    Each student will be provided a bag and a binder plus all earned belts. Please note that a violin is needed for this class. You may rent a violin directly from Sarah Walker at https://sarahwalkerstudios.com/shop

    Instructor's Bio:

    Middle School Violin Class comprises of seasoned students who have gone through the Violin Karate Program at the Lower School and have moved-on and advanced through the program. 
    Violin Karate is a fun and motivational method created to teach kids in a group setting, helping them learn the basic skills needed to play the violin! It’s that simple! After each skill is mastered, the student earns a colored belt (tassel) to hang from the end of the violin scroll indicating that he/she has mastered a new skill. Ms Seker brings full energy, passion and so much FUN into her classroom. Your kids will Love her! 
     
  • St. Andrew's Cathedral Children's Choir, 1st-4th, 2:45-3:30 on Tuesdays

    SPRING 2026: St. Andrew's Cathedral Children's Choir
    Instructor: Jessica Nelson & Alicia Bell
    Grades: 1st-4th 
    Day and Time: Tuesday, 2:45-3:30 pm
    Tuition: $0
    Location:  Jean Jones Chapel (Lower School)

    St. Andrew's Cathedral Children's Choir will meet weekly in the Lower School Chapel for rehearsal. This ensemble is open to all students of all faith traditions, not just Episcopalians or members of St. Andrew's Cathedral. These choristers will learn music selected from the breadth and depth of the Anglican music-making tradition and will sing for selected Big Chapel services, as well as selected Sunday services at the Cathedral.

    Instructors' Bios:
    Jessica Nelson is a native Mississippian with degrees in music and liturgy from Millsaps College and Seabury-Western Theological Seminary and has been organist/choirmaster of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral since 2017. Her works for choir and organ have been published by Paraclete Press, Selah Publishing, and St. James Press and have recently been recorded by the choir of Trinity Church, Boston. 
     
    Hailing from South Africa, soprano Alicia Bell is a veteran music educator and seasoned performer who maintains an active schedule of teaching and performing. Alicia is an alum of the University of Southern Mississippi's School of Music, where she studied voice. She sings in the choirs of St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral and Cade Chapel MB Church in Jackson and operates Talent Tree Studios.
  • Ukulele Karate, 1st & 2nd, 3:45-4:30 on Mondays
