In Mr. McKey’s Around the World, students will learn about culture, landmarks, music, art, and greetings from countries around the world. Students will have the opportunity to explore cities and countries via google earth, watch and listen to natives talk about their country, and make their own passports to show their journey!
Spring 2024: Art and Geometry with Paint and MAGNA-TILES Teacher: Nicole Robinson Grades: PK3-2nd Day and Time: Mondays from 3:15 – 4:00 p.m. Tuition: $375 for ASC students, $425 for non-ASC students Location: South Campus, Kennedy Hall
Let’s talk about cubes, pyramids, spheres, and architecture. Each week your child will be given a new theme/challenge. Magnetic tiles are a great way to practice fine motor skills, reinforce letter and number recognition, practice shapes and colors, and just have fun! After each challenge, your child will journal/paint ideas that match their geometric shape/study for that week.
The class is aimed at encouraging your child to (1) be creative in their designs, (2) communicate with one another in their ideas and (3) have fun! Students will learn problem solving skills - disguised in playtime creativity.

The NASA STEM Club will explore the stars, our galaxy, the solar system, and becoming an astronaut through fun STEM challenges, Virtual Field Trips, Interactive Research Projects, and Art! We will learn fun facts about space, build small projects and models, play games to reinforce concepts, and create fun rockets and gliders to test out on our May Day Field!

STEAM subjects nurture the development of additional skills like creative thinking, collaboration, and communication. Kids channel their energy into meaningful projects. When students enjoy the project, they engage with the material and retain knowledge. Let's learn and have fun!
Instructor Bio: My name is Sandra Flores. I have been an educator for 20 years; I was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico; I went to college at the University of Monterrey N, L CEDIM. I received my accreditation in early childhood in 2008, worked in Texas and Mississippi in Catholic Schools, then moved to St. Andrews in 2015, worked at ECC in prek3, and worked in different grades as a first-grade S@H teacher last year. Working with younger kids has been my heart and passion. I love to see them grow and develop their many gifts and talents.

Titanic: Voyage of Discovery - class description: Building content knowledge through engaging activities is essential for academic success. This class will explore the Titanic through hands-on experiments and interactive lessons. Students will learn about buoyancy, density, and other key scientific principles related to the sinking of the Titanic. Through the use of interactive read-alouds about the Titanic, students will expand their vocabulary and create wonderful schema that will help them understand other historical texts. Students will journal, work on creative storytelling, and informative essays/letters. This will allow students to develop their writing skills while exploring different aspects of the Titanic's history. Students will have the chance to express their creativity by working on various art activities inspired by the Titanic, such as creating ship models, designing Titanic-themed artifacts, and exploring different art mediums.
