  • Art for Middle School, 5th – 8th grades, 3:10 – 4:15 p.m. on Tuesdays — NORTH CAMPUS

    SPRING 2026: Art for Middle School

    Location: NORTH CAMPUS — Middle School Art Studio

    This course aims to enhance students' skills and self-expression in 2D design. Emphasizing the Elements of Art and Principles of Design, students will deepen their understanding of color theory, drawing techniques, and mixed-media applications.
     
    Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to refine their individual skills and foster personal creativity by creating artworks in various mediums. They will learn to utilize new methods and tools, with observational drawing, painting, and mixed media serving as the foundation for their projects. 

    Instructor Bio:
    As the art instructor for middle school students at St. Andrew's, I have enjoyed sharing my passion for art for the past six years. After a decade serving as the Middle School Counselor at SA, I have recently made my way back to the art classroom. Prior to my time at St. Andrew's, I taught art within the Gifted Education program at Starkville Public Schools. During that period, I earned my National Board Certification in Middle School Art. I possess a Bachelor's degree in education with a minor in art, along with a Master's degree in counseling from Mississippi State University.

    Sign your students up for endless fun in after school art! This class is taught by the St. Andrews Lower School art teacher, Ms. B. Students will have extended learning and fun in this after school program. Students will create projects using a variety of materials such as clay, sculpture, painting, sewing, and drawing. Students will enjoy this product based art class enrichment and take home some beautiful projects. 

    Instructor's Bio:
    My name is Abigail Babaz, and I am the lower school art teacher here at St. Andrew’s. This is my first year teaching at St. Andrew’s. I have recently moved to Jackson from Atlanta, GA. I would love the opportunity to get to know your student more outside our lower school art class in this after school program!     Let's make a masterpiece! In Artful Adventures we will learn about some of the greats like da Vinci, Picasso, Warhol and others. We will explore their techniques and create art inspired by their works. Sign up to help your child find their inner creativity!

    She moved to Jackson MS to teach for Jackson Ballet School which became Ballet Mississippi. While at Ballet Mississippi she studied with Charles Dickson, Alan Woodard, and Gillian Davis. 
     
    She was Principal of Ballet Mississippi School and Assistant Chairman of the Dance Department of APAC ( the Academic and Performing Arts Complex of the Jackson Public Schools).

    In addition to this Thursday class, 3rd and 4th graders are now encouraged to join one of the older classes for advanced learning with upper grades. Those options are Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 4:10 - 5:30pm. They may also join the mixed-grade Friday class from 2:45 - 3:45pm.

    Let your child's imagination sparkle in this fun, engaging jewelry-making class! Inspired by favorite stories and full of colorful beads, this workshop is the perfect creative outlet for young crafters. Children will explore a rainbow of sparkly, chunky, and shiny beads. They'll learn simple knotting and bead stringing techniques that feel more like play than class, allowing them to create unique bracelets, necklaces and so much more! This class will help with motor skills, attention, and self-expression. Let's make some cool and fun jewelry!

    Hi! I'm Mary Mack & I'm a PreK3 Instructional Assistant here at St.. I have been here for going on 4 years now. I picked up jewelry making in 2020 during the pandemic, and it has been a hobby of mine every since! I have an eye for jewelry and beautiful art pieces, that's why this class would be so fun to teach, introducing them to a creative outlet that can bring so much joy and a sense of accomplishment!

    Art Lovers! Want to develop your hands-on skills? Let your imagination transform ordinary objects into masterpieces! Come have FUN creating craft activities you will enjoy! Use your imagination and creativity to put together your unique designs on Wood, Mosaics, Binders, Signs, Purses Jewelry, Wristbands, Keychains -for backpacks, and more, using different techniques with lots of fun patterned paper, ribbons, all kinds of paint, beads, Perler beads (the melting ones!), stickers and many more materials that make this class such an enjoyable and exciting activity! It’s a wonderful fun class for the end of the school day!

    Instructor's Bio: I am a former St. Andrew's 5th grade Spanish teacher and a St. Andrew’s substitute teacher for PK3-12th grade for several years. I love working with kids. I am passionate about teaching children to develop their skills for different activities. My instruction style is engaging and empowering, I bring passion and joy to what I do!
  • Magnetic Minis: Tiny Clay Art!, 1st-4th, 3:00-4:00 on Mondays

    SPRING 2026: Magnetic Minis: Tiny Clay Art!

    In this class, we will use air dry clay (that bakes in the oven) to make miniature art out of clay and turn it into a magnets! Do you enjoy working with clay? Do love all things miniature? Well, this class is for you! Whether it be making magnets for your fridge or leaving the magnet off to just make collectibles, you will have creative choice. This class is great for children who love working with their hands or enjoy using tools. 

    Instructor's Bio: 

    Tiffany Busby has been teaching for 28 at years and has a passion for integrating art and STEM into her classroom! In the past 3 years at St. Andrew’s, she has offered classes such as Young Architect Club, NASA STEM Club, Disco Art, Titanic STEM, and Tree House Design. She is always looking for ideas that are relevant and engaging where kids can work with their hands. 
  • Painting Class: Pre-K4-K, 2:30-3:15 p.m. on Wednesdays

    In my painting class for PreK and Kindergarten children, young artists will explore color and emotion through art. They will learn how to hold a brush properly, mix colors, and paint with acrylics on canvas using easels—just like real painters! Beyond technique, the class encourages children to understand how each color can express an emotion and how painting can be a way to relax, focus, and channel feelings. It also helps develop fine motor skills, concentration, and creativity in a joyful and imaginative environment.

    Lucía Duque is a Spanish artist and painting instructor with over 15 years of experience teaching art to children in both schools and art programs in Spain and Jackson, Mississippi. Her greatest passion is sharing her love for art through her classes and inspiring children to discover their own creative voice. She loves teaching young students because she finds joy in watching them express themselves with freedom, color, and imagination.
     
    Her most recent mural, “Magnolia Breeze,” can be seen at 201 Clinton Boulevard in Clinton, MS. She also presented her latest exhibition, “The Nomad’s Journey,” at the Mississippi Arts Center in April 2025.

    In the painting class, young artists will explore color and emotion through art.
