The Middle School National Junior Honor Society inducted new members.
Last Tuesday, the Middle School National Junior Honor Society inducted new members. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 and perform 10 hours of community service to be inducted. Once they are members, they must perform 15 hours of service, maintain good academic standing, uphold the honor code, and foster a productive learning environment inside and outside the classroom.
The ceremony itself was quite moving. The NJHS officers light candles representing the five pillars of the NJHS—scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. The principal candle, from which the others are lit, stands for the light of knowledge. The NJHS encourages new members as well as the audience to focus on that particular light, noting its ability to spread, shape, and ignite.Congratulations to the 41 new members from the 7th and 8th grades.
