College Counseling Connects Students with Recent Graduates
Knowing that visiting colleges right now is anywhere from challenging to impossible, and without a date by which we know it will get easier, College Counselors Colin Dunnigan and Scott Johnson asked recent alumni if they'd be willing to talk with seniors and juniors about their schools. Quickly, more than 90 graduates from 2016-2019 offered to connect with students about their institutions.
Two of the first to connect were junior Camille Halverson and Athena Tiwari '17 who currently attends Rhodes College. "I feel so thankful to have gotten to help out a student from St. Andrew's with her college decision-making process. The fact that Camille goes to St. Andrew's gave me a clear indication of what she values in an education," said Tiwari. "I loved St. Andrew's and Rhodes College, so this is a great way to thank both of the schools that have contributed to my education."
Halverson, who is interested in attending medical school, received information from Tiwari on the pre-med track at Rhodes and also general advice about what to do during high school to help her better prepare for college. "Talking with Athena was extremely helpful. It was really awesome to get a former St. Andrew's student's opinion on the school because it makes me feel like I would have a similar experience."
